SPECIAL REPORT: GEORGE JONES: LEGACY OF A LEGEND Part 1
NASHVILLE, Tenn. - We take a look back at the life, career and death of country music icon George Jones. This past week has been an emotional roller coaster for friends, family and fans of George Jones. On Wednesday night, Woodlawn Funeral Home hosted a private memorial service. Then Thursday the Grand Ole Opry served as the location for Jones' public funeral. It was attended by several dignitaries and included heartfelt performances. It all started one week ago, when it was announced that Jones had died in the hospital. Immediately everyone started talking about his long career which began in the 1950s. Jones had more songs make the charts than any other country music singer in history. We take a look back at his 7 decades of music. One thing we heard all week long about George Jones is how quickly he made friends with people. One person who knew him best was his publicist Kirt Webster. FOX17 Entertainment Reporter Stacy McCloud got to talk to Webster last week. Webster met George 18 years ago as a fan, became his friend, and then his publicist. So, he has many stories about the Possum. The one thing that stands out is just how many people loved George. The family has not yet decided what will happen with the final farewell show that was planned for November. As soon as they do, we will let you know. _______________ Stay up to date with our social media: WZTV on Facebook: / foxnashville WZTV on Twitter: / foxnashville Subscribe to WZTV on YouTube: / @fox17nashville Daily News Playlist: • Playlist For more information, visit https://fox17.com/ Have a news tip?
