Two groups of residents were clashing over land rights around the Sitinjau Lauik Flyover construction project in Padang City, West Sumatra, last Saturday. The incident occurred while the project team, along with members of the Lubuk Kilangan Nagari Traditional Council, were measuring the disposal site for the project's excavated soil. However, several people arrived and claimed ownership of the land, leading to an altercation. Officers on the ground were forced to fire warning shots to break up the disturbance. In response to this incident, Deputy Chairman of Commission VI of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), Andre Rosiade, who personally inspected the progress of the Sitinjau Lauik Flyover construction, urged PT Hutama Karya (HK) to take immediate legal action and coordinate with the police. Andrew called for law enforcement against any unruly acts disrupting the project.
