EQUITAZIONE: ADDESTRAMENTO CAVALLO E CAVALIERE | La mezza fermata

Once again, speaking of good horsemanship, let's discuss the half-halt. I know I made a video about the half-halt a little while ago, but I thought I couldn't leave it out of the series of closely related videos I'm currently producing. So, to make it easier for you to find related material, I made another one. In horsemanship, the half-halt is one of the sine qua nons. Until this concept is clearly understood (and there will be more work to be done and endlessly refined), nothing can be done correctly and systematically. Understanding how and when to intervene and how to dose these interventions is essential for good horse-rider communication. The horse must learn the forward and restraining aids without forcing them. He must be sensitized from the start so that he doesn't have to insist forever... the goal is to achieve a delicate communication, which is increasingly less visible from the outside. Clarity and determination go hand in hand with the absolute delicacy and sensitivity the rider must have towards his horse. The rider must adapt to the horse, not the other way around. Following the training ladder is the easiest way to stay focused in training. Horse training isn't about doing crazy things, performing circus tricks, or special effects... but about respecting the animal and acting in the best interest of its mental and physical health.
