He came to Romania for a feasibility study… and stayed for life. In this special Easter edition, "At Dinner" we sit at the table with Jean Valvis, a man who built his life between three worlds: the Switzerland of his childhood, the Greece of his birth and training, and the Romania of his choice. "In soul and heart I am Greek, but in mind I have learned a lot from the Swiss. (...) I consider myself Bukovinian by adoption." "I was already a mineral water fanatic. Because by chance, from my mother or from God, I don't know from what DNA, I have a taste acuity; that is, I make differences in small details of taste; sometimes it's a blessing, sometimes it's a catastrophe." He chose Romania almost by chance... and he stayed for good. Here he built brands. Here he learned the language, the customs, the people. Here he understood that sometimes the simplest things — like water — can tell the most powerful stories. "In 28 countries, there are people who give their warm pennies from their pockets for water in Romania." Jean Valvis speaks openly about success, but also about mistakes, about money and the things that can't be bought, about family, about friendship and about trust. "I don't feel sorry for corporations, but on a human level, a Christian behavior prevails. " Between a question about Chardonnay and one about what joy means, we discover a man beyond business. "My grandmother gave me some great advice when I lost my father. She said, 'Jane, from now on, you invest in education.'" It's not just a story about success. It's a story about meaning.
