Ein Tag in Inverness in Schottland |50plus Reisen | AIDA |
I was once again privileged to travel north to Greenland with AIDA. During our trip, we also docked in Invergordon, Scotland. From there, I took the 25X bus to Inverness on my own. 00:00 - A Day in Inverness, Scotland 00:24 - By Bus 25X from Invergordon Harbour to Inverness 01:51 - Walking Tour and General Information about Inverness, Scotland 02:18 - Victorian Market in Inverness, Scotland 03:19 - Historic Old High Church in Inverness, Scotland 04:01 - Abertarff House, the oldest house in Inverness, Scotland 05:01 - High Street in Inverness, Scotland 05:45 - Inverness Castle, Scotland 07:07 - By Bus or Train from Inverness Back to Invergordon, Scotland Inverness is the capital of the Scottish county of Highland and has been the county's only city since December 2000. The city lies at the mouth of the River Ness into the Moray Firth (cf. the Gaelic word inver, "estuary"). It is the northernmost city in the United Kingdom. The town and its surroundings are steeped in history. Inverness Castle was the 11th-century seat of a certain Macbeth. Apparently, the man wasn't as cruel as William Shakespeare later immortalized him. On the site of his castle now stands an impressive 19th-century castle. The castle overlooks the River Ness, which winds through Inverness. On my walk through Inverness, I not only visited the castle but also the Victorian Market, a market whose architectural structure dates back to the Victorian era. I also visited the city's oldest building, the High Street shopping and pedestrian zone, and, among other things, the High Church of Inverness. The historic Old High Church, which overlooks the city from St. Michael's Mount on the banks of the River Ness. It is the oldest church in Inverness and is known for being the seat of the first parish in Inverness, whose roots date back to Celtic times. I walked around Inverness for about four hours, covering approximately 11,000 steps and 10 kilometers. The city can be easily reached by bus 25X or by train from Invergordon. A self-guided trip to Inverness is definitely worth it. ✌️😃 #50plus #50plustravel #50plusvlog #50plusblog #bestager #bestagercomedian #bestagervlog #bestagerblog
