Dedicated to first- and second-year engineering students, we present the third special lecture by Professor María Inés Baragatti, organized by Damián Pedraza of the Engineering Translator channel and Viviana Costa, representative of IMApEC (Research on Alternative Methodologies for Science Teaching). How did this lecture come about? Professor María Inés Baragatti, a mathematics graduate, taught for over four decades at both the National University of La Plata and the National University of Quilmes (Argentina). She retired in 2014. Until 2017, there were no recordings of her lectures; she was only remembered by her former students for teaching mathematics by encouraging critical thinking and questioning of concepts. In May 2017, Damián Pedraza organized a tribute lecture so that her students could enjoy her teaching once again, and to record the lecture and leave a living record of her art of teaching. A second lecture was held in 2019. And finally, in 2022, a third in-person class was held, divided into three parts, with a total duration of two hours and forty-five minutes. While these classes were endorsed by the authorities of the Faculty of Engineering at UNLP, they were entirely organized and coordinated independently.
