I Started Trusting My Future Self.
013 / 365 This film is part of an ongoing body of work investigating how identity transforms through sustained creative inquiry. 365 is an archive of observations, questions, experiments, and discoveries by Christina DiStefano. Each entry serves as evidence of an unfolding research practice, documenting—in real time—the evolution of an artist. Rather than documenting finished ideas, each entry captures the movement of becoming—the slow transformation that unfolds after leaving a corporate identity and allowing the artist to return. It explores what happens when creative practice and professional practice are no longer separated, and what becomes possible when both are allowed to shape one another. It is an ongoing attempt to make the invisible a little more visible. — YOU CAN BECOME WHOLE. For a long time, I believed different parts of me belonged in different places. The artist belonged in the studio. The businesswoman belonged in the conference room. The founder belonged somewhere in between. Today I realized that separation may have been something I imposed on myself. In this series I’ve been talking about three versions of myself. Level One is the version that got me here. Her ambition. Her discipline. Her willingness to work. Level Three is the woman who wrote The Powerhouse Handbook. She trusts herself. She creates from alignment instead of fear. Long before I left corporate, I found myself asking a simple question: What would the woman who wrote that book do? The answer kept pointing in the same direction. Leave. Build differently. Trust the artist. Maybe Level Two isn’t another destination. Maybe it’s simply the bridge that allows those two versions of myself to become one. This film isn’t really about personal development. It’s about integration. Thank you for witnessing this part of the work. — Christina DiStefano Studio ChristinaDiStefanoArt.com CD-DA.com Instagram @christinadistefanonyc
