From Washington, D.C., experts, legislators, activists, and binational leaders analyzed one of the issues that most concerns the United States: the advance of drug trafficking, fentanyl, and the alleged networks of political protection that enable its expansion. During a seminar on narcoterrorism, figures such as Larry Rubin, Rosy Orozco, and Juan Iván Peña Nader agreed that cooperation between Mexico and the United States must be strengthened to combat a common enemy that affects both sides of the border. Testimonies were also presented on the devastating effects of fentanyl, human trafficking, and smuggling, while voices are growing demanding that action be taken not only against the cartels, but also against the corruption and political ties that allow these organizations to maintain their power. According to the participants, the fight against drug trafficking is no longer just a security issue, but a matter that impacts the bilateral relationship, trade, and the future of North America.
