It limits to the north with the municipal district Derrumbadero and the municipality of San Juan de la Maguana, to the south with the Bahoruco province, to the east with the municipality of Vallejuelo and to the west with Derrumbadero. The sections Pinar de la Cana, Abra las Yayas and Caimonial and the places los Tablones and Guamalito belong to Batista. According to the 2002 National Population Census, the municipal district has a population of 2,432 inhabitants. According to a census by the Diocese of San Juan de la Maguana, around 181 families and 793 people live in the city of Batista.
