How To Trim Banana Plants For Faster Plant and Banana Growth
Hey Banana lovers; I’d like to share a controversial video on how and why I trim all my Banana plants Rhizome Leaves to promote faster growth, Flower, Blossoms, and Bananas. (Yes it really work) to promote new growth and to produce Banana hands quicker. (CONTROVERSIAL) Pruning - Trimming Banana Plants, seems to be a subject that is very controversial. (DIFFERENCE IN PHILOSOPHY) Some people say trim and some say not to trim because each leaf is a solar panel, collecting energy to produce a large load of carbohydrates via photosynthesis. Less leaf tissue = less photosynthesis = less fruit. (BY COMPARISON) It was referred to this is why we have a concern when insects are eating plant foliage because they are reducing the photosynthetic surface area of the foliage. (LOGIC?) But what is the logic of removing leaf tissue that is still photosynthesizing? (PROVEN TO WORK) However with that said, I have been punning for years, and have seen great results when trimming like in the video and had no issues at all. (JUST A THOUGHT) Note:. The banana plant wants to have leaves. If you cut the leaves it wants to grow new leaves. So it makes more. But as you know, the leaves expire over time as the plant gets taller. The lower leaves start to yellow and fall off anyway. On top of that once the leaves above mature they block a good bit of sun from the lower ones in essence lowering the efficiency of said leaves. At the end of the day only keeping the newest and most productive leaves at the top makes sense. As quick as they grow and produce pups it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try and see for yourself. As you may know, the Gardening world is full of myths and legends,s and misinformation. I tend to try things for myself stick with what works. At times I go against the grain like with using Horse Manure, yet another controversial subject. . But in the end, my results speak for themselves. (FORTUNATELY) Fortunately, I have been getting nice size hands of Bananas that have been plump and that have ripened just fine. no diseases or issues. (DIFFERENCE IN OPINION) Just because one has a different philosophy and approach in doing things, why would it be wrong just because some disagree? It’s been proven to speed growth rate and quicker to produce. (OPEN-MINDED) I’m always willing to try and learn new techniques, been like that all my life. I always say, do what works for you it never hurts to try something new, as long as it's easy and carefree. May the Banana Gods be with you! :-) (SHORTER GROWING SEASONS) Taking that into consideration that there are many places North of us that have a short growing season and for them to be able to grow bananas even a few weeks quicker would be the difference between the bananas freezing or having a nice harvest. so for them, this may be the difference between fruiting and harvesting or not. They have nothing to lose by trying this method. As it turns out I had a lot of Northerners who had fruit for the first time and thanked me for the video. (OPTIONS) You have the option to trim or not, that is totally up to you, I am one that just likes to share my experiences with others so that they know what others are doing with their permaculture. Trimming is extra work that is not needed but by trimming it sure does make the plants landscaping look more beautiful as well. So I feel trimming serves a few purposes.
