Ep 5 The Roof Had to Come Off! | Irish Derelict Cottage Restoration

This week marks one of the biggest milestones yet on our Irish cottage and land restoration journey – we finally remove the roof from our derelict stone cottage in County Mayo. After months of planning, clearing and improving access, it's time to take on one of the most significant stages of the restoration. Seeing the cottage without its roof is both exciting and a little daunting, but it's an important step towards bringing this old building back to life. In this episode: Removing the roof from our derelict Irish stone cottage To grant or not to grant? We finally let the cat out the bag. Preparing the front boundary with fencing posts Feeding our newly planted fruit trees Improving access to the stream with stone and pebbles Celebrating a birthday on the farm A special tribute to Nicky's dad and the influence he continues to have on this project Every week brings new challenges, but we're gradually transforming both the cottage and the surrounding 15 acres. From infrastructure and access improvements to restoring the cottage itself, we're documenting the entire journey as it unfolds. If you enjoy Irish cottage restoration, rural living, land transformation, homesteading, old buildings, countryside projects and authentic renovation journeys, we'd love to have you along for the adventure. #Ireland #DerelictCottage #IrishCottage #RoofRemoval #StoneCottage #CottageRestoration #RuralIreland #LandRestoration #Homestead #CountryLiving #CountyMayo #RenovationJourney #IrishCountryside #Orchard
