He previously served in that role between February and June 2020. He is also the President of Kosovo’s biggest political party Lëvizja Vetëvendosje. Kurti came to prominence in 1997 as the Vice-President of the University of Pristina Student Union, and organizer of non-violent demonstrations in 1997 and 1998. His role as Prime Minister of Kosovo is perceived as an essential factor of stability in the Western Balkans. Mr Kurti has pushed hard for Kosovo’s international recognition in the EU, the finalisation of the Kosovan-Serbian dialogue, as well as significant domestic reforms.
