Sam Keller – Ein Quereinsteiger mischt die Kunstszene auf | Reportage | SRF

Sam Keller, Director of the Fondation Beyeler, has had a rapid career as a career changer. He is considered a "master of networking" and is on first-name terms with the world's most famous and wealthy artists. Now, this successful artist has fulfilled a dream. "I can tell my grandchildren about this one day," says Basel native Sam Keller, one of the world's most influential figures in the art scene. The Director of the Fondation Beyeler has succeeded in bringing one of Latin America's most important contemporary artists to Switzerland. Starting June 29, Brazilian Ernesto Neto will present a monumental, CHF 2.7 million sculpture at Zurich Central Station. "Gaia Mother Tree" is the name of the enormous installation by the artist, whose works can be found in the world's most renowned museums. The presentation of the 20-meter-high, 1.5-ton crocheted work in public space is a dream come true for Sam Keller. He describes the event as a milestone in his biography. Sam Keller travels frequently for work. Reporter Hanspeter Bäni accompanied the busy man to Rio de Janeiro, among other places. He gave the camera crew a glimpse into his everyday life, characterized by contacts with artists and the upper class. Nevertheless, the "worker's son" seems to have remained down-to-earth.
