State to amend the charge sheet against Masemola, co-accused

The State plans to amend the charge sheet against suspended National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola and his co-accused, with more officials and additional charges expected to be added. Prosecutors say a proposed plea agreement with alleged tender kingpin Vusimuzi 'Cat' Matlala has yielded new evidence that could reshape the case. Masemola and several senior police officers appeared briefly in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court yesterday, on charges of contravening the Public Finance Management Act, fraud and corruption. These are linked to a multi-million rand SAPS tender awarded to Matlala's company.
