Lakeside Cave: A huge Cave found in the Desert of Utah. Can’t believe we didn’t know this existed.

Lakeside is a remote point of land on the west side of the Great Salt Lake. N41.21226* W112.90370* Ride a long with us, as we hit the road and search out the location of Lakeside and the Lakeside cave. Built over a century ago in 1901, the scene was a lot different. In 1901, the settlement of Lakeside was built by railroad workers preparing to build a trestle bridge to cross the Great Salt Lake. This enormous engineering effort would shave 44 miles off the existing train route north via Promontory Point, saving time and money. The bridge construction began in February 1902 and completed in March 1904. Once the trestle bridge was completed, Lakeside was left abandoned.
