Begoña Gómez, the wife of Spain's Prime Minister, Pedro Sánchez, will face a jury trial. The Madrid Provincial Court confirmed that Gómez will be tried by a jury for the alleged crimes of influence peddling and embezzlement. The judges believe there is sufficient evidence to investigate three matters: the creation of the professorship she headed at the Complutense University, the use of an advisor paid by the Prime Minister's office for private activities, and the alleged attempt to obtain financial gain from software developed within that university environment.
