In addition, the ria coastline, which has blessed us with good natural harbors, also causes tsunami damage in the event of an earthquake. The sea is a place where Nankai earthquakes occur, and there are records of damage caused by tsunamis many times in the past. As a result, the port and town are separated by an old breakwater built with high stone walls, although it is inconvenient. The village is a two-storied townscape with gabled floors. Features include the tiled roof, decorative handrails on the windows on the second floor, latticework, and folding benches called 'butcho'.
