The 2026 winter crop season in Rio Grande do Sul is notable for the expansion of canola and the reduction in wheat acreage. Canola is expected to reach approximately 353,000 hectares, driven by industrial demand and higher profitability. Wheat remains the main crop, but will decrease by around 814,000 hectares due to high costs, lower profitability, and climate risks. This scenario reflects a search by producers in Rio Grande do Sul for diversification and balance between crops.
