Urban Culture - Gorton, Manchester - 2002 - 25mins

This was the very first project by REELMCR and it's all down to Patricia Stewart, thanks Pat x Devised and scripted by the participants of Gorton's 'On The Streets' project. Urban Culture was filmed during 48 hours of the 2002 Commonwealth Games in Manchester. It is a reflection of the lives of many of our young people in urban centres all over Britain. The street violence that is an almost daily occurrence, and the criminality it is so easy to be drawn into, but it also shows us their creativity, their fight for identity, and the strength of their friendships.
