The natural beauty is the highlight of tourism in the region. The district boasts the best-preserved waterfalls in the Diamantina region, with large falls, rapids, and crystal-clear, potable water. Notable examples include the Cachoeiras das Fadas, Telésforo, and Tombadouro waterfalls. However, there are countless other waterfalls and swimming spots in the region. The old train station also adds charm to the district. The construction of the Diamantina-Corinto railway in 1912, named the Riacho das Varas Railway Station, also brought noticeable development to the community. The Conselheiro Mata Station is an integral and inseparable part of the historical memory and architectural and urban heritage of the municipality. It is possible to travel along the stretch of the old railway branch line via the Maria Fumaça Green Trail. Access to the district from Diamantina is via BR 367 towards Belo Horizonte and MG 259 towards Corinto. It's 10 km of paved road and 39 km of dirt road. The journey is definitely worth it!
