Link: https://alura.com.br/sarjeta The Punisher (Frank Castle) appeared in Marvel Comics in The Amazing Spider-Man 129 (1974), created by Gerry Conway, John Romita Sr. and Ross Andru. A former US Marine, Castle starts a war against crime after his family is murdered by the mafia. The Punisher was adapted for the big screen in films starring **Dolph Lundgren (1989), Thomas Jane (2004), Ray Stevenson (2008) and Jon Bernthal (2017, in the Netflix series). His stories, initially focused on action and urban vigilantism, took on a darker and more violent tone during the 2000s comics run by screenwriter Garth Ennis, especially in the MAX line, aimed at an adult audience. One of the highlights of this phase is the 2003 miniseries BORN (Born to Kill), which explores his past in the Vietnam War, suggesting that his brutality and thirst for war already existed before the family tragedy. In this video, I discuss the origins of the Punisher, analyze Garth Ennis' Born, and talk about the Vietnam War, the involvement of the United States, psychopathic America, pacts with the devil, and the pleasure of violence.
