Carlsbad K1 Challenge GP 2026 Round 6 June 7th, 2026 Round 5 unfortunately won’t have a video upload due to a ViewPoint camera issue or battery failure. Round 6 brought another strong turnout with 28 racers, creating a great opportunity to gain valuable championship points. After an extremely competitive qualifying session, I was able to secure my first pole position of the season, but not without a fight. Michael Hardesty edged me out by just 0.002 seconds in the first qualifying round. In the second round, I found another tenth and locked in pole along with the extra championship point. The field was incredibly tight, with only 0.3 seconds separating P1 through P10 in A Main qualifying. It was truly anyone’s race, and execution came down to kart handling and hitting every lap clean. The race intensity started immediately. Wyatt LaMons, in his first GP, applied constant pressure from P2 and gave me no room to breathe for nearly the entire race. It only eased slightly in the final laps as his battery started to fade. On Lap 1, By the Schumacher hairpin at Turns 6- 7, it was clear my kart was struggling. It lacked grip in both the front and rear, with noticeable understeer mid-corner and oversteer on exit. I knew it would be a fight to keep my lines tight and avoid leaving any openings. Behind Wyatt, both Michael and Jackson stayed right there, so one mistake could have dropped me from P1 to P4. In the end, I was able to hold position. What might look like a calm race on camera was anything but. It was an intense final and a well-earned 29 championship points. A Main Qualifying Times 1. David Mock – 29.142 2.
