In this verse, the apostle John refers to the Law given through Moses, which symbolizes the rules and regulations established in the Old Covenant. However, John points out that with the coming of Jesus Christ, grace and truth have been revealed in a fuller and more complete way. • "Grace" represents God's unmerited favor toward humanity, offering salvation and forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ. • "Truth" refers to the full revelation of God's will and redemptive plan manifested in the person of Jesus. John 1:17 highlights the transition from the old dispensation of Law to the new dispensation of Grace and Truth, which are fully manifested in Jesus Christ.
