Pakistan’s Crisis Is Not Money Alone - It Is the Way Power Works

Pakistan’s new budget has been presented, and once again the real story is not relief, reform or economic direction. The real story is where the money is going, who is being squeezed, and which power centres are using the fiscal crisis to strengthen their own position. In this video, we discuss how Pakistan’s federal budget reflects the same old pattern: debt servicing remains the biggest burden, defence has received a major increase, development space is shrinking, and provinces are being pushed to create fiscal space for the centre. The official justification is national security, regional uncertainty, terrorism, India, Balochistan and internal instability. But the deeper question is simple: can Pakistan keep using security as the answer to every economic and political failure? The video also looks at PPP’s role after the budget.
