60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' at the Nene Valley Railway. Filmed Saturday 8th April 2023, released same day. The Nene Valley Railway hosted 'Sir Nigel' on their 7 mile heritage line throughout April. Having spent last year in a temporary wartime black livery, this event was the first public appearance of 'Sir Nigel' in it's characteristic BR blue livery since coming back from overhaul last year. No. 60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley' was built in 1937 and designed by it's namesake, Sir Nigel Gresley. As Sir Nigel Gresley was a famous locomotive designer, this helped to give 60007 a special importance and fame amongst other engines. Later post-WW2, 60007 rose to fame again, whilst hauling as special charter train in 1959, 60007 set the post-war speed record for steam engines of 112mph. Since then 60007 has been preserved by the Sir Nigel Gresley Locomotive Trust and often runs on the mainline and has frequent visits to heritage railways.
