Cruise Port Puerto Vallarta Mexico - See it all ON YOUR OWN, beaches, sights, drinks and more!
Blog post with full details: www.nowgoseeit.com/blog/cruise-port-puerto-vallarta Mexico cruise ports playlist: • Mexican Cruise Ports Today we’re in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico for a full DIY cruise port day, starting at the Puerto Magico cruise terminal and ending at Los Muertos Beach Pier. If your ship is docking in Puerto Vallarta and you’re wondering whether to stay near the port, book a shore excursion, or head into town on your own, this video walks you through exactly what we did and how you can copy it (or tweak it) for your own visit. We start right at Puerto Magico, the main cruise terminal in Puerto Vallarta. You’ll see what it’s like to walk off the ship into the indoor shopping complex with souvenir stores, tequila and vanilla shops, jewelry, snacks, and coffee. We talk about the kind of tours you can buy inside the terminal if you didn’t prebook with the cruise line or with partners like Viator and GetYourGuide, and how to decide whether a last-minute tour makes sense for your schedule and budget. Then we head outside into the open-air flea market and restaurant area so you can see what shopping and food options are available if you want to stay close to the ship. From there, we leave the port complex, hit the main road, and grab an Uber to downtown. Uber works very well in Puerto Vallarta and is usually one of the cheapest and easiest ways to get from Puerto Magico to the Malecon. We also talk about using regular taxis from the port, how to agree on a fare, and roughly how long the ride into town takes. Our walking tour starts near Rosita Beach at The Millennia statue on the Malecon, Puerto Vallarta’s famous oceanfront pedestrian walkway. We show you what the Malecon looks like, explain how long it takes to walk, and highlight the mix of statues, shops, and restaurants you’ll pass along the way. You’ll see the Dance of the Flyers performance, La Rotonda del Mar, the Puerto Vallarta letters sign, and the Boy on the Seahorse statue, with tips on where to stop for photos and how much time to allow. We step off the Malecon to visit Plaza de Armas and the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe, then walk past the Naval Museum for anyone who wants to add an indoor museum stop to their day. After that, we continue south to Isla Rio Cuale, where we explore the island’s market stalls, shady paths, rope bridges, and the John Huston statue, and talk about why this little island feels different from the main tourist strip. The video follows us back to the waterfront for a quick photo stop at the seated donkey sculpture, a very average lunch with a great ocean view (so you know what that looks like too), and a walk through the open-air theater area with its detailed tile work. Then we head into the Romantic Zone for Playa Los Muertos, one of Puerto Vallarta’s most popular beaches, and show how it compares to the area where we started the day. We finish with a stop at the Amapas Painted Stairs for colorful photos and a cool-down break at The Hideout, where you can get fresh fruit margaritas, frozen boozy popsicles, coffee, and pastries. The day wraps up at Los Muertos Beach Pier with wide views of the bay before we call an Uber back to Puerto Magico, do one last pass through the port complex, and head back on board. This Puerto Vallarta cruise port guide is designed for cruise passengers who want to see more than just the terminal but still get back to the ship on time. You’ll see how we organize our day, how we use ride share and walking instead of expensive tours, and where the natural “break points” are if you want to shorten or extend your time in town.
