Here Gary teaches Exercise No. 23 from Nava's Elementi di vocalizzazione, first published in 1853 by Francesco Lucca. Nava's work was popularised in England by baritone Charles Santley, who translated his Method for Baritone. In the US, Herman Klein includes Nava alongside Garcia, Lamperti, and Sangiovanni as an essential singing pedagogue.
