Glycogenesis | Glycogen Synthesis in Hindi

This video explains about the process of Glycogen synthesis which is known as Glycogenesis in Hindi. In Glycogen, Alpha D-Glucose molecules are linked with alpha 1-4 & alpha 1-6 bonds. Alpha 1-4 bond is formed by Glycogen Synthase enzyme & Alpha 1-6 bond is formed by Glucosyl 4-6 transferase (Glycogen Branching Enzyme). Glycogen synthase enzyme require UDP Glucose molecules to elongated growing chain. Glycogenin is a protein that act as a primer for Glycogen synthesis and having intrinsic catalytic activity. Glycogenin synthesize 8 Glucose units containing chain that act as primer, which is then elongated by Glycogen Synthase. Additional of 1 Glucose molecule to glycogen chain requires 2 ATP.
