Thrifting Deals in Vintage Hoards & Saving the Antiques!

Crazy weather, crazy deals! We're out chasing storms and chasing bargains today, when a trip to a thrift shop, a seldom-open antique store, a flea market and a deeply piled, old-school thrift/vintage/antique shop is interrupted by a huge tornado we have to outrun. What can we save? Our wild day starts calmly in a cute Hopkinsville, Kentucky store we've never caught open before! The kindly owner chats with us while we look through decorated vignettes with everything from tailor's irons to Venetian mirror and stained glass delights. Shopping a single-owner shop has its advantages, as we find when she makes us a nice discount on a group of items we both agree need to sell elsewhere. Butler's Antiques has been on our radar since we shopped their nicely curated space on the Highway 68/80 sale last year. Now we see what they have to pick from, a multi-generational pile of current and old estate sale finds from the days when this was a furniture store! There aren't many places like this, and they have some gems among the aisles of house goods and furnishings of all kinds. An interesting Rookwood mug leaves me wanting to know more, and we get some fun and varied stuff we can really sell for under $100. Then it's on to...wait, our regular broadcast is interrupted by...a tornado! We exit stage right, running from and then watching the tornado with you as it blows past the flea market that is our ultimate destination. The storm bands are still strong as we duck in, and we take our time ferreting out the best bargains while we wait it out!
