Replacing the shifter on my Porsche 911 996
I was never very satisfied with the stock worn shifter on my 2002 Porsche 911 and finally decided to replace it with a standard Porsche 997 shifter from years 2007-2013. This shifter was known to be an improvement over the 996 generation and because it's brand new, should make a big difference in my car. Some quick info on part numbers for compatible shifters for the 996: 997 424 010 00 is the standard 997 Shifter which equates to about 10% reduction in shift on a 996. 997 424 010 91 is standard 997.2 GT3 but with billet aluminum bushes which are more precise and robust. This shifter is a little stiffer than the stock 997 shifter. 997 424 983 00 is OEM SSK 997 which offers about 25% reduction of throw on a 996 but with a fair bit stiffer action.
