Villanueva de Gormaz (Soria)

Villanueva de Gormaz. A municipality in the province of Soria, in the Autonomous Community of Castile and León. It belongs to the Community of Villa y Tierra de Gormaz. It is located next to the Caracena River, on one side of the SO-P-4126 road, which connects Fresno de Caracena with the Puente de Recuerda. The most striking feature of the landscape is the great mass of Gormaz Castle, a perpetual guardian of the passage of history. Houses, homes that look impeccable, restored or newly built, in contrast to many other decaying buildings, where adobe and rammed earth are a faithful reflection of a bygone era. It was a wine-producing town, as evidenced by its three wine presses, now in ruins, and the many cellars dug underground, which still serve as gathering places for friends, as agricultural activity is clearly in decline. Another of Villanueva de Gormaz's landmarks are its dovecotes.
