In this fifth episode of Icon Painting for Kids you’ll learn all about egg tempera, and be challenged to make an egg emulsion of your own, plus practice making various thick and thin lines with paintbrushes. Elina Pelikan lives in Fuquay Varina, North Carolina, with her husband, mother, and five children and attends St Raphael of Brooklyn Orthodox Church. She leads the chanting and is working on more icons for the church walls, while running an art, theater, dance, music instruction, and performance company. Originally from California, Elina has been studying iconography from many different wonderful instructors from around the world for over twenty years. Her icons can be found in churches in Texas and North Carolina, as well as personal collections. She also works on illustration, digital design, and various other art forms.
