Superman (Theme Suite) | Music by David Fleming & John Murphy

James Gunn's "Superman" movie has finally hit theaters, and I got the opportunity to watch it yesterday. The movie is solid, lighthearted and full of hope and optimism, and I wish the best for the future of the DC Universe. Personally, I'm still nostalgic of Zack Snyder's "Man of Steel" and especially Hans Zimmer's score, but this new movie is definitely a return to form for the DC brand. I'm glad that John Williams's theme has been used widely in the movie, and not simply by reprising the main motif. I appreciate particulary the three-note motif used by David Fleming in his tracks like "Last Son", "Being Human" and "Your Choices, Your Actions", which recall the original Superman theme. My favourite track is definitely "Last Son", which remembers me also of Hans Zimmer's "The Burning Bush" in some way, and I love the sublime sound it evokes. John Murphy's guitar arrangement of Superman's theme sounds amazing, but I was surprised to see that David Fleming took over most of the score for the movie despite the short time of work he had, and I believe he succeeded in his scoring duties.
