I visited Funayama Onsen in Minami-machi, Yamanashi Prefecture. This is a small, single-room inn with 10 rooms nestled in the lush mountains. There's nothing around. All you can hear are the chirping of birds, the murmuring of the river, and the silence of the lush greenery. "Quietness" is the star here. To create a tranquil inn, we ask that: Groups of seven or more Guests under elementary school age Guests who cause inconvenience to other guests Guests just stopping by Guests requesting karaoke companions The inn's interior has a sophisticated, modern Japanese atmosphere and a warm, welcoming feel. The staff were friendly and attentive, perfectly embodying the inn's concept of a "soothing, healing space." The hot springs include two large public baths, two open-air baths, and two free private baths. All overlook the Funayama River, creating a sense of openness. It's never crowded. The unique "lying down bath" was fantastic and incredibly relaxing! Savor the local cuisine, including bear, deer, wild boar, trout, beef, and spring vegetables. The wine was delicious, too! Escape from everyday life and simply spend some time doing nothing. It was incredibly relaxing and rejuvenating. This is a modern-day travel style, known as "modern hot spring therapy." Please experience this "modern hot spring therapy" experience, which benefits both body and mind! Fireflies can be seen from late May to mid-June.
