1:32-Modelleisenbahn als Hobby – Besuch bei Spur-1-Team Rumeltshausen Öffentlicher Fahrbetrieb Spur1
The model railroad in gauge 1 (scale 1to32 ) is also considered the “royal class” of the model railroad because of the richness of detail of the locomotive models. However, most lovers of this hobby do not really have space for a corresponding system in their home. Many gauge 1 railroaders therefore build a large modular system or club system together. They meet regularly for handicrafts or games, and work on their vehicles or beautify their model railroad landscape. This also applies to a group of ten model railroaders from the Dachau area (20 km northwest of Munich, Germany). In 2008 they founded the "Spur-1-Team Rumeltshausen" (gauge 1 team Rumeltshausen) and have been building a really great modular model railway system on a scale of 1to32 ever since. Every year they also look forward to the pre-Christmas season, because then they always put their system on display in the small town of Rumeltshausen near Dachau for a public exhibition. It can then always be viewed on a few November weekends on Saturdays and Sundays. The model railway days 2026 are on November 7, 8, 21 and 22, 2026, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Location as every year: Hotel Göttler in D 85247 Rumeltshausen. For this 30-minute YouTube report, I visited and interviewed the 1-gauge team Rumeltshausen at the end of October 2019. Its fascinating, modular 1-gauge model railroad layout on a scale of 1 to 32 occupies an area of around 100 square meters. It consists of 420 meters of track and more than 100 switches. Roughly speaking, the facility has a through station with two platforms and a village, a parade route, a branch line mountain line, a ten-track terminus station, a through shadow station with storage space for six trains and, on a second level above, a depot with roundhouse, turntable and large coaling facility. Around 45 locomotives and 180 wagons are used on this layout. It is controlled via three Central Station 2 digital centers from Märklin and a tablet computer with connection via WLAN. Most of the buildings and the landscape were completely self-built.
