Fishing for Wild Chinook Salmon in Haida Gwaii ! We’re kicking off the morning with some light lodge chores and firing up the generator to power our off-grid home here in Haida Gwaii. After cooking up a big breakfast to fuel us for the day, we hit the water for an exciting fishing session — and this time, the Chinook Salmon are everywhere thanks to the herring spawn! We’ve been practicing and learning how to use the downrigger, which definitely came with some challenges — but we’re getting the hang of it, and we’re pumped to start trolling for salmon more seriously. After not having much luck fishing in the Okanagan in past years, this feels like a huge win.
