The 2024 Iron Horse Rambles season has proven to be a historic one, as Reading & Northern 2102 traveled along the rails of the Lehigh Division under its own power for the very first time. Two excursions operated under the “Iron Horse Rambles” departed the brand new Nesquehoning Regional Station bound for destinations north, including Tunkhannock, PA and Pittston, PA, winding through the scenic Lehigh Gorge and into the heart of the Pocono Mountain Region. Ex-Reading Company 2102, a large Baldwin-built I10sa class 2-8-0 later rebuilt by the Reading as a 4-8-4 T-1, is the staple of the Iron Horse Rambles, and is well equipped to handle the fast paced journey up the grades of the former Central Railroad of New Jersey and Lehigh Valley Railroad.
