DIY Reloading Bench Build
This is a build of a reloading bench from dimensional lumber. 2x4's and 4x4's for for the frame, 2x12 for the work surface 1x6 for the shelves and sides. My friend had some specific needs for a reloading bench so his girlfriend commissioned me to build him one for Christmas. This bench wasn't going to be in a basement or garage it was going to be a center piece for a room that was visible from other areas of the house so generic, industrial bench wouldn't do. it needed to have character and some concealed storage. He also had to accommodate 2 Hornaday Lock-n-load powder measures. I accomplished this by taking a basic workbench design, adding a back shelf that would house bins, dies, bullets or finished ammo. I left enough space on either side of the shelf to park the powder measures so they could be pushed back and out of the way when not in use. To hide some of the more unsightly, bigger items such as tumblers and powder, I surrounded the lower storage area on three sides with wainscoting. When it came to style, Vicki painted the bench with earthy outdoor colors using her layering method that almost always begins with dark walnut stain. The foundation of this bench is typical, functional and versatile. You could easily modify it to work for any application and adding some paint goes a long way in making it look like part of the home. #diy #reloadingbench #workbench #build #homebuild #bench #rustic #rusticpaint #furniture #art
