Electrification Moves Closer To Leeds (Trans Pennine Route Upgrade)
Electrification continues to move closer to Leeds as major progress is made between Cross Gates and Micklefield as part of the TransPennine Route Upgrade (TRU). This update explores one of the most important sections of the route, where new Overhead Line Equipment (OLE), bridge replacements, station upgrades and electrical infrastructure are all coming together to prepare the railway for future electric services. This video covers: Micklefield Station progress Completed OLE installation through the station Ridge Road bridge replacement preparations Siemens Mid-Point Track Section Cabin (MPTSC) Future electrification milestones Austhorpe Lane bridge reconstruction works Utility diversions and temporary bridge arrangements Cross Gates Station upgrade progress Platform coping stone replacement Future footbridge and accessibility improvements Weekend engineering possessions between Leeds and York At Micklefield, completed OLE structures now stretch west from York and Church Fenton, marking another major milestone in the route’s electrification programme. The nearby Siemens Mid-Point Track Section Cabin (MPTSC) will play a key role in managing the future electrical supply, helping improve reliability and simplify maintenance. Further west, Ridge Road bridge is awaiting demolition, while Austhorpe Lane bridge continues to be rebuilt after being identified as too low to accommodate the future overhead wires. At Cross Gates, engineers are carrying out significant station improvements, including replacing platform coping stones and preparing for the installation of a new accessible footbridge. Future piling works will create the foundations needed to support the structure and improve passenger accessibility. With engineering works taking place across the route, the railway between Leeds and York is steadily being transformed into a modern electrified railway capable of supporting faster, greener and more reliable train services. #TRU #TransPennineRouteUpgrade #Micklefield #CrossGates #Electrification #RailwayEngineering #NetworkRail #OLE Chapters 00:01 Introduction 00:21 Micklefield to Cross Gates overview 00:45 OLE installation at Micklefield 01:09 Ridge Road bridge replacement 01:23 Siemens MPTSC explained 02:18 Electrification moves toward Micklefield 02:44 Austhorpe Lane bridge reconstruction 03:37 Utility diversions and temporary bridge 04:30 Engineering works at Cross Gates 05:20 Cross Gates Station upgrade 05:37 Platform coping stone replacement 06:36 New footbridge and accessibility improvements 06:56 Future developments along the route 07:15 Thanks for watching Keywords TransPennine Route Upgrade, TRU, Micklefield Station, Cross Gates Station, electrification, Overhead Line Equipment, OLE, Siemens MPTSC, Mid Point Track Section Cabin, Ridge Road bridge, Austhorpe Lane bridge, Leeds York railway upgrade, Network Rail, railway engineering UK, station accessibility improvements, railway electrification project, Church Fenton, Neville Hill, platform coping stones, West Yorkshire railway upgrades.
