MSC Presents: FAR AND AWAY for SATB a cappella Music & text by: Sean McIntyre Evoking a soaring, serene dreamscape and stirring hope for a new day, "Far and Away" is a new a cappella work for mixed choir with music and text by Prince Edward Island-based composer Sean McIntyre, and was an Official Selection of the 2025 MSC Call for Scores. Simultaneously rich in sonority, yet uncomplicated in execution, this SATB piece has occasional divisi moments that are very approachable for choirs of most levels, including community, amateur, and high school choirs. COMPOSER'S PROGRAM NOTE: Written during a lockdown at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, "Far and Away" represents a much needed escape from the pressures of the world through dreams. The piece explores the freedom and serenity that one can achieve while dreaming; bringing them a calmness with which they can tackle the next day. And through the clouds we float on endlessly, A sea below that mirrors ecstasy. It heeds us and guides us. Frees us and spurs us to drop all our burdens, Let go your pains and float on: Far and away, deep through the night's sway. Unto dawn, into a warm calm. Above the clouds, uncover shadows.
