A family's desire to offer children healthy snacks has turned into a unique business. In Zănești, in Neamț County, the Tărâță family invested in a special technology, the same one used for astronauts' food and which ensures a preservative-free, 100% natural food. Thus, the family from Neamț managed to put healthy snacks on the market that are liked by children and adults alike. In order to be able to produce freeze-dried snacks, the Tărâță family first fought bureaucracy. They had to get authorization for the new technology, and then they moved on to developing the product portfolio. At the moment, the snacks are made from cheese and yogurt from their own dairy factory, and in the near future, meat and fruit snacks are also being prepared. The “Space Snacks” for children are based on cheese and yogurt produced in the dairy factory of the farmer’s family. Through a process of freezing and then dehydration, the dairy products lose a large part of their water content, while retaining calcium, vitamins, healthy fats and, of course, proteins. The production of “Space Snacks” would not have been possible without an integrated production chain. From the grain planted in the ground, to the milk of the cows, to the production of cheese and dairy products, the business from Zănești manages to add value to agricultural work, but also to innovate with a new product, which responds to the growing demand for healthy and tasty snacks.
