Rick Barry Begins Cooking, Eliminates Pistons (35 Points - 1977 Playoffs)
April 17, 1977 - Trailing by four at the half, Rick Barry and the Golden State Warriors found themselves in a precarious position in the deciding game of their first round, best-of-three series. Alas, it was a monstrous, bench-clearing brawl that seemed to change their fortunes. Midway through the third quarter, Eric Money and Charles Dudley exchanged punches and kicks in a fracas that soon spilled over into the stands, where a fan sucker punched M.L. Carr and was subsequently attacked by Bob Lanier. When the dust finally settled, the Warriors appeared energized, embarking on a Rick Barry-infused 14-4 run, turning the tide of the ballgame once and for all. The Warriors eliminated the Pistons 109-102. Barry finished with 35 points in the one, though only a portion of his second half onslaught is included above (on account of being the only footage available). As a final note, on account of the NBA's initial east coast origins, the Detroit Pistons were considered a western conference team until the conclusion of the 1977-78 season.
