Phnom Kulen National Park (Khmer ឧទ្ានជាតិភធនំគូលែន) is a national park in Cambodia, located in the Phnom Kulen mountain range in Siem Reap Province. It was established in 1993 and covers 373.76 km 2 (144.31 sq mi). Its official name is Jayavarman-Norodom Phnom Kulen National Park (Khmer ឧទ្យានាតាតាតាតាតាតតម ភ្នំគូលែន). During the Khmer Empire, this area was known as Mahendraparvata (Great Indra's mountain) and was the site where King Jayavarman II himself proclaimed himself chakravartin (King of Kings), an act that is considered the foundation of the empire.
