Curso Protesis totales. Encerado para prueba estética. Video 8

The cosmetic wax-up is a key step in the fabrication of full dentures (and also partial dentures or cosmetic restorations). The wax-up involves placing artificial teeth on wax to simulate the final prosthesis before processing it in acrylic. --- 🧼 What is a cosmetic wax-up? It is the temporary placement of teeth on a wax base, which mimics the shape and volume of the future prosthesis. This wax base is placed in the patient's mouth during an appointment called a "cosmetic try-in" or "wax-in," with the aim of evaluating: 👄 Facial aesthetics (lips, smile, midline, tooth shape). 🗣️ Phonetics (pronunciation of letters and sounds). 🦷 Occlusion (relationship between arches, contacts). 😌 Patient comfort and acceptance. --- 🧰 What does this wax-up include? Complete tooth setup (anterior and posterior). Wax modeling of: Gingiva (simulation of the gingival contour). Shaping of the prosthetic base. Anatomical positioning of teeth according to the principles of aesthetics, function, and facial harmony. --- 📆 When is it performed? After taking: 1. Functional impressions. 2. Bite registrations (centric relation and vertical dimension). 3. Articulator setup. 4. Tooth selection (color, size, shape). --- ✅ Why is it important? Allows the patient to see what their future dentures will look like. Facilitates adjustments before final processing. Improves treatment acceptance. Reduces aesthetic or functional errors. --- 🔄 What comes next? Once the patient and the professional approve the cosmetic wax-up, the prosthesis is processed in acrylic by pressing and heat-curing, maintaining the shape and position achieved during the fitting.
