At the end of the 19th century, a little-known story circulated: that of a huge cannon installed on the Mexican coast that was supposedly capable of deterring a U.S. fleet. An episode without a precise date, with incomplete records and shrouded in contradictory accounts, it eventually became a legend. Strange photos with the title "Salina Cruz Cannon" are all that remain as evidence that this wild story might have been true. This video does not seek to establish a definitive truth. It is an animated narrative based on testimonies, historical interpretations, and oral traditions that have survived through memory and word of mouth. At México Máximo, we explore little-known stories, myths, and episodes from Mexico: tales that might have happened… or that perhaps only persist because someone decided to tell them once more.
