Miami To Exuma Bahamas Part IX - The Long Way Home

After one of the greatest nights of our lives, on Wax and Norman's Cay, we woke to an anxiety inducing sight. From our bungalow we could see the jet boat, but the ski had disappeared. We found it about 200 yards away, washed up on the beach, with several feet of rocks between it and the water. It was a bad omen for the long day ahead of us. After a team effort to unbeach the ski, the journey home was finally underway. An incoming tropical storm had shifted the winds and the 55 mile stretch between Norman's Cay and Nassau was pretty nasty. This video includes the footage we managed to bring back with us. Unfortunately, Kevin was knocked off of his ski a couple times by waves, and lost his head strap mounted camera (among other things). By the time we arrived in Nassau the ski had a foot of water inside it and was struggling. We emptied the water, but much of our equipment stored inside of the ski was destroyed. Reluctantly we pushed on toward Chub Cay. The waters between Nassau and Chub were slightly better, but not enough to improve morale. After arriving at Chub, we regathered ourselves and again pushed on toward our final island destination of the trip. We had passed Bimini on our way to the Exumas, but on the way home we decided to spend the night there and rejuvenate.
