The Convict is a popular cichlid, and has been swimming around in many of our aquariums. This temperamental cichlid was known to us as Cryptoheros nigrofasciatus. In 2007, Schmitter-Soto revised this species into three different species and even classified it into a new genus. This has caused quite a bit of confusion among many aquarists. I have tried in this video to make it a little clearer, but above all to show you these beautiful fish in their natural habitat. Enjoy.
