EN VIVO: Los RETOS que enfrenta el Estado para hacer la posesión de Abelardo en el Cauca

For the first time in Colombian history, the presidential inauguration could take place outside of Bogotá, and this brings with it enormous security, logistical, and financial challenges. The José Hilario López Military Base in Popayán is one of the facilities being considered for the event, but just a few days ago, a drone carrying explosives crashed into a helicopter inside that same base. The security operation would have to include the deployment of the Presidential Guard Battalion, reinforcements from Cali, and several security rings for the president, the guests, and the outer perimeter. Added to this is the budgetary challenge of transporting approximately 300 members of Congress and international delegations to Popayán's small airport. We discussed all these challenges with Senator Germán Rodríguez of the National Salvation Party, who explained why he supports the decision to inaugurate Abelardo de la Espriella at a military garrison in Cauca, despite the region's high-risk environment.
