Inside the Jersey || WSL Pro Bells Beach 2026 || Lakey Peterson

This trip had everything — perfect waves, friendly rivalry, and a full-blown Misogi attempt. We head to Kelly Slater’s Wavepool in Lemoore, California to surf a fun, high-energy contest with friends using a completely different heat format. Instead of just surfing for yourself, this one was all about teams. There was an individual winner, but every wave also counted toward your team’s total — which added a whole new layer of strategy and pressure. Tom and I ended up on opposing teams, so naturally it turned into a head-to-head battle to see who could get the dub over the other. Perfect waves, night sessions, contest day chaos — the Surf Ranch delivered. After wrapping up in California, the focus shifts to something much bigger: Tom’s 2025 Misogi Challenge. The goal? Run from Malibu Pier to Rincon Point, Santa Barbara — an absurd distance along the California coast. Things didn’t go exactly to plan. Severe cramping, physical deterioration, and a rough moment in the middle of Oxnard nearly ended it all… but he still managed to cover just under one and a half marathons, which is unreal. Surfing, competition, friendship, and pushing past the edge — this one’s a journey. ⸻ ⏱️ Chapters / Timestamps 00:23 – Intro 00:57 – Preparing to leave in San Clemente 02:52 – Drive to Kelly Slater’s Wavepool 03:46 – Explaining Kelly Slater’s Wavepool 04:18 – Preparing for the practice night session 07:00 – Practice night at Kelly Slater’s Wavepool 12:08 – Contest day at Kelly Slater’s Wavepool 12:46 – Summary of the contest day 13:00 – Morning of the Misogi Challenge 13:54 – What is the Misogi Challenge + previous challenges 17:07 – The big run starts to go downhill #surfvlog #wsl #bellsbeach #surfing #surf #prosurfer #prosurfing #behindthescenes #athlete #proathlete
