Journey to USHUAIA 🚌 Bus from Punta Arenas, Ferry Ride & First Impressions of the END OF THE WORLD🌎

It's time to say goodbye to Chile and embark on the ferry crossing to Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego for our final destination at the bottom of South America. That's right, in today's video we're finally reaching the city of Ushuaia, also known as the End of the World! This was a long travel day of 11.5 hours starting in the city of Punta Arenas. We crossed at Cruce Bahía Azul, which is a narrow point on the Strait of Magellan. We then continued the bus journey over the border where we got stamped out of Chile and back into Argentina. Along the way, we got to enjoy the scenery which was vastly Patagonian steppe with lots of estancias, which eventually transformed into snow-capped mountains the closer we got to Ushuaia. It was a cool travel experience - though I'm sure you can tell that at this point we were beat! - but it was definitely worth the effort to reach the end of the world. In today's video, we're taking you along our epic journey by bus and ferry from Punta Arenas, Chile, down to Ushuaia, Patagonia. Here's everything that happened on this action-packed travel day: 🕖 Early Morning Departure from Punta Arenas Up at 5:00 AM, with only a few hours of sleep—early start at the bus terminal. Our bus departed promptly at 8:00 AM for an 11.5-hour journey across the southern tip of South America. 💵 Bus Ticket Cost Paid 35,000 Chilean pesos (about $47 USD) per person for the full-day journey from Chile into Argentina, including ferry crossing. ⛴️ Ferry Ride Across the Strait of Magellan Highlight of the trip—a short but scenic 30-minute ferry ride. Enjoyed sunny weather and spotted seals swimming alongside. Beautiful views and great photo opportunities as we crossed from mainland Chile to Tierra del Fuego island. 🛂 Crossing Chile-Argentina Border Smooth and friendly border crossing experience. Fun highlight: saw an adorable cat napping on top of a heater at the immigration office! 🍪 Snacks & Stops along the Way Bus driver handed out complimentary juice boxes and cookies—much appreciated! Stopped briefly in Río Grande, the largest city in Tierra del Fuego. Later paused in the charming small town of Tolhuin, famous for its bakery—picked up some delicious cheesy bread (pão de queijo) and fed some friendly local dogs. 🏔️ Changing Landscapes into Ushuaia Noticed a dramatic change in scenery from flat Patagonian steppe to rugged mountains, lakes, and windswept forests as we approached Ushuaia. Last 100 kilometers slowed down by winding roads and heavy traffic. 🍕 Arrival in Ushuaia & Dinner Arrived around 7:30 PM, tired but thrilled! Checked into our cozy apartment (though the shower wasn't great—low water pressure!). Enjoyed a delicious pizza dinner paired with Argentine Malbec wine, perfect after a long day on the road. 🏠 Ushuaia Apartment Tour Small but comfortable apartment, 30-40 min walk from downtown. Noted that accommodations and restaurants in Ushuaia book up quickly during peak season (December–February), with long waits at popular restaurants. This was a memorable journey reaching the end of the world!
